Dahlia Publishing is a small press based in Leicester, founded in 2010 by Farhana Shaikh. Dahlia Publishing manages both The Asian Writer and Leicester Writes.
Our diversity policy is at the heart of everything we do and we’re passionate about publishing regional and diverse writing.
Since our beginnings we’ve worked alongside local universities to offer aspiring editors an opportunity to gain an insight into how publishing works. For many years, we offered a work-shadowing opportunity to second year students at Loughborough University. We also offered mentoring for second year BME students to help give their career’s a kick start. More recently, we have been working alongside the English department at University of Leicester, to offer e-placements for students on their trans-cultural writing and publishing module.
Dahlia Publishing is also signed up to the Equip Publishing Equalities Charter.
We want to form a local writing and publishing community. If you’re a writer based in the region, do join us at monthly Writers Meet Up Leicester at Cafe Bru, Granby St Leicester on the first Tuesday each month.
